I’m up at 4am on Saturday finishing some of my paralegal work. I often do most of my work and writing at this time as I’ve mentioned before. Just when I first wake up and my brain feels more alert. Last night I was feeling a bit overstimulated so I took a gummy and got a bit baked before bed. By now its worn off and I’m thinking more clearly.

I got a new pendant yesterday. It’s a Momento Mori stainless steel pendant on a curb chain. I have to admit this may be the most masculine pendant I’ve worn to date. I usually would wear a crystal or shark tooth on a leather strap. Something about the firmness and weight of this that feels very grounding. Also I wouldn’t expect any kind of energy to come from a non-stone pendant, but this actually feels like there is a lot of great energy from it. It feels weighty, grounding and also comforting, like a reminder of my purpose in life which is limited.

This is something I think about a lot. We often go through life as if we have all the time in the world. As I approach my 53rd birthday, I think how when I was in high school I played sports, and then joined the Marines right out of high school. I drove a tank and we did 15 mile hikes up mountains wearing 60 lbs of gear. Over the years, I took various martial arts and did lots of other things until about ten years ago when my body started slowing me down.

By looking at me now, you’d never guess I did any of those things. Mainly I don’t usually brag about them. I don’t mind being masculine, but unlike the internet Manosphere and the crazy losers who promote hypermasculinity, I just look at life as phases. Sometimes I lament that I can’t do the things I used to, but my mind has never been sharper. So, I’m doing things now with my brain and feel my biggest successes are yet to come.

Being masculine doesn’t mean being able to kick the most ass or dominate, it is how you treat those around you and knowing when its time to move on to something new. Life moves in phases and I don’t want to be the old guy hanging out at the college parties thinking I’m cool. That’s what these manosphere guys remind me of. They never grew past high school.

For this weekend, we are seeing one of my favotie indie ands playing at a local club tonight, and then watching football Saturday and Sunday. Our weekdays are pretty busy, so we try to unwind on weekends.

I’ve been meditating more lately. I go in phases with how much I mediate. With what I’ve been reading lately about magic and manifestation I’ve been trying to put more of it into practice with intention plus action. I talked about that a lot in previous blogs, and even the Christian Bible says “faith without works is dead.” So even they have basic witchy concepts. You can manifest and chant all you want, but if you aren’t putting a plan into action, its just wish-casting.

This sums up where we are so far for the weekend. What are some of your weekend plans? Please share in the comments. I’d love to hear from you. Do you have a witchy or self-improvement practice? Share withs us what you can. I love hearing and learning from others. In the meantime be safe out there.
